Genève - two human rights organization have launched a petition that calls Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances and the international community to immediately end unfair trial of 36 abductees at Houthis’ group jails.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor. An European organization based in Genève, and SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties, an independent human rights organization, based in Genève, said that the petition has called for immediate measures to ensure safety of the abductees, and to investigate their detention conditions and the maltreatment they are facing.
The two organizations have indicated that the petition stressed on the need to invalidate the death sentence ruled by state security court controlled by Houthis, the same court that prosecuting the 36 abductees, against journalist Yahya Abdulraqeeb Al-Jubaihi, 63, last April.
The two organizations have documented detention of 36 civilians who were forcibly disappeared by Houthis group for about two years, and under trial now before an illegal court and lacks the minimum standards of fair trial.
According to information received by the two organizations, the abductees are suffering deteriorated health conditions, and are subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment.
The two organizations confirmed that the petition comes within a lobbying and advocacy campaign to release the detainees, considering the defamation campaign against the abductees at media outlets, that should stop and the perpetrators shall be prosecuted.
