SAM Expresses its Condemnation of the Targeting of Journalist Muhammad Al-Ottami and his Wife, journalist Rasha Abdullah, and Calls on the Authorities in Aden to Open an Investigation into the Circumstances of the Incident

Geneva - SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties has expressed its strong condemnation of the assassination that killed the journalist, "Rasha Abdullah" and her fetus after targeting her private car this afternoon in Aden, without knowing the perpetrators, stressing the need for the authorities in Aden to open a serious investigation to determine the circumstances of the bombing.

The organization said in a brief statement issued today, Tuesday, that the initial information stated that a bomb placed on the reporter's car resulted in the death of her and her fetus as she was in her last days before giving birth, in addition to the injury of her husband, "Muhammad Al-Ottmi", without knowing his health condition until this moment.

"SAM" indicated that the explosion occurred at about 4:00 pm while the car was passing in front of the oil company's restroom (in Khormakser).

The organization concluded its statement by calling on the security authorities and specialized agencies in Aden to move seriously in order to open a quick investigation to find out the repercussions of the incident and to bring to justice the parties involved in the explosion, stressing that such incidents constitute a violation and an unjustified attack on the lives of civilians who were guaranteed full protection by international law.
