Geneva - SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties stated that elements from the facility security guards in Marib assaulted caricaturist Hilal Al-Marqab on the evening of Saturday, July 20, and tried to arbitrarily kidnap him.

SAM received a report from Al-Marqab stating that elements from the facility security guards in the city of Marib attacked him on Saturday evening, July 20, after storming his workplace in the Green City Park, adding: "They showered me with insults and beatings with their hands and rifle butts, strangled me, tore my clothes, terrified my children and family, and tried to kidnap me were it not for the intervention of the park administration and some attendees."

SAM expresses its full solidarity and strong condemnation of this unjustified assault, and calls on the authorities in Marib to investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure that the perpetrators of the assault do not escape punishment. The organization also calls on the authorities to put an end to the soldiers' behavior and control their conduct to ensure they perform their duties without excesses.
