On Thursday, January 9, 2026, SAM for Human Rights held a meeting with the UN Human Rights Office to discuss the latest human rights developments in Yemen and explore mechanisms for coordination and cooperation in monitoring and documenting serious violations.
This meeting follows a letter SAM sent to the UN Human Rights Council and the High Commissioner, calling for an independent international investigation into crimes attributed to Emirati forces in Yemen, based on reports from the Group of Eminent Experts on Yemen, as well as reports from local and international human rights organizations.
The Yemeni government had announced on December 30 that the presence of Emirati forces in the country had ended.
