SAM organization for Rights and Liberties calls upon the international community and international organizations, led by UN, for quickly and urgently actions concerning the suffering of the people of Dhabi village at Hayfan District in Taiz governorate who have been subjected to the process of forced displacement for dozens of families by Saleh and Houthi militias.
During the past two days, SAM monitoring team in Taiz documented horrible practices and tragic stories while displacing locals in Dhabi, including the use of weapons threats and intimidation for civilians by Saleh Houthi militias. Eyewitnesses reported that the militias separated men from women and children while threatening them by weapons before their displacement. Also it was reported extrajudicial executions of civilians. The organization documented also horrible death of seventy-year-old man who was killed by sniper in front of his brother causing him acute mental trauma.
According to reports by local organizations and human rights activists, SAM recorded the displacement of 120 families from their homes because of hunting and systematic shelling. The total number of displaced people reached (420) individuals between men, women, children and elderly. The displacement covered the following villages: (Dhabi, context, Harat, Doman and Albwadah), the displaced directed to the locations: (Alaamor, Asalo, Hivan, Alrahidh, HAWBAN, Aden, Ibb, Hodeidah, Dhamar and Sana'a).
The organization also confirms that the forced displacement of civilians, described as a crime and a serious violation of international convention against forced displacement, requires accounting the perpetrators and the responsible of the crimes under international Human Rights laws and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
