The Taiz Office for Siege Affairs and SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at establishing a framework for cooperation and coordination between the two parties. The agreement seeks to strengthen joint efforts to promote peace and reinforce the principles of transitional justice in Yemen, particularly in Taiz, a governorate that has long endured the devastating impacts of war and siege.
The MoU focuses on fostering an active partnership through a range of community-based and coordination activities, including:
Holding community hearings to shed light on the suffering of civilians and amplify the voices of victims within transitional justice processes.
Establishing a Memory Museum and symbolic installations documenting the tragedy of the siege and capturing the experiences of victims, with the aim of preserving collective memory and raising public awareness.
Launching awareness and training campaigns targeting youth to enhance their understanding of transitional justice principles and encourage their role in advocating for victims.
Developing a coordination mechanism and joint timeline for implementing activities, alongside regular meetings to assess progress and share updates and expertise.
Both parties affirmed that this MoU represents a strategic step toward building a sustainable partnership that strengthens documentation, supports victims, and promotes the principles of justice and reconciliation within Yemeni society.
