SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties, through its Community Reconciliation and Consensus Committee, and in coordination with official and military authorities, carried out on the morning of Wednesday, 28 January 2026, the evacuation and handover of a residential building in Taiz Governorate.
This step was implemented as part of the SPARK project, carried out by SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties in partnership with the Association of Abductees’ Mothers, with support and funding from the DT Institute.
The handover falls within the ongoing efforts led by the Community Reconciliation and Consensus Committee to promote social peace and address the consequences of the conflict. On Wednesday, the committee successfully handed over the Naila Al-Assouli residential building, located in Salha District – Upper Al-Jahmaliyah neighborhood, consisting of five apartments, to its rightful owner after completing all necessary arrangements with the relevant authorities.
The process was preceded by a series of intensive meetings and consultations with concerned parties, most notably the Presidential Committee and the leadership of the 22nd Mechanized Brigade, whose cooperation and facilitation played a key role in the success of this step. The handover was conducted under the direct supervision of the commander of the Fourth Battalion of the 22nd Mechanized Brigade, Brig. Waheeb Al-Houri, who contributed effectively to overcoming obstacles and supporting the committee’s efforts.
The handover took place in the presence of the building owner’s legal representative, the head and members of the Community Reconciliation and Consensus Committee, and the neighborhood elder. This step reflects the effectiveness of coordination between state institutions and community initiatives and underscores the importance of consensual solutions in protecting private property and strengthening local stability.
