CRCC Honored for Efforts in Water Conflict Resolution

    Taiz – Eng. Wathiq Al-Aghbari, Director General of the Local Water and Sanitation Authority in Taiz, presented the Community Cohesion and Water Resources Protection & Peacebuilding Shield to the Community Reconciliation and Consensus Committee, represented by its Chair, Mr. Abdullah Jassar, and committee members. The recognition honors the committee’s outstanding efforts in addressing and resolving numerous community disputes related to water issues, amid the challenging circumstances facing the governorate.

    The award acknowledges the committee’s active role in promoting dialogue and understanding among diverse parties, reducing conflicts over water-sharing, and introducing practical initiatives to protect and manage water resources in the public interest.

    Eng. Al-Aghbari praised the committee’s contribution to local stability and fostering a culture of peace, emphasizing the importance of partnerships and coordination between the Water Authority and civil society to ease citizens’ hardships and improve water services across Taiz.

    Mr. Abdullah Jassar expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that it serves as motivation to continue joint efforts with authorities and civil society organizations, strengthen community cohesion, protect water resources, and consolidate the values of social peace in the governorate.

    The Community Reconciliation and Consensus Committee is part of the SPARK project, implemented by SAM for Rights and Liberties in partnership with the  Abductees’ Mothers Association, with support from the DT Institute, aiming to promote reconciliation and knowledge exchange.
