Houthi Militia’s Bombing of Civilians in Hodeidah is a War Crime that Deserves Accountability

    SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties condemned the killing of nine civilians in the city of Hodeidah, yesterday, Thursday, December 3, 2020, as a result of indiscriminate missiles attack launched by the Houthi militia on the Thabet Brother Factory.

    The organization reported that “according to eyewitnesses,” a missile fell on Thursday evening, fired by the Houthi militia into a Thabet Brothers factory, next to the workers ’residence, killing nine civilians and wounding seven others, some of them seriously, which may increase the death toll.  All the injured were transferred to  Al-Durayhimi hospital.

    SAM said that the daily killing of civilians in Hodeidah is terrifying, and puts all deescalation efforts to the test, as the main goal is to protect civilians.

    The organization also confirmed that the indiscriminate bombing violates the laws of war, and constitutes a full-fledged war crime that requires perpetrators to be held accountable in accordance with the Rome statutes.

    SAM called on the international community and the UN envoy to condemn this heinous crime in clear language and hold the Houthi group responsible for it, as a matter of moral and professional responsibility and to ensure remedy for the victims.
