SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties, through the Community Reconciliation and Consensus Committee and in coordination with the Presidential Committee for House Evacuations, carried out on Thursday, 29 January 2026, the handover of ten residential apartments in Al-Tuwaiti Building, located in Bir Basha near Taiz University, to their lawful owner.
The five-story building consists of twenty-four apartments. This step comes within the framework of the SPARK project implemented by SAM in partnership with the Abductees’ Mothers Association and funded by DT Institute. A grace period was granted to the remaining occupants to vacate the apartments after the end of the 2025–2026 academic year, in consideration of families with school-aged students.
The handover took place in the presence of the Head of the Community Reconciliation and Consensus Committee, Mr. Abdullah Ali Jassar, committee members lawyer Dhi Yazan Al-Suwai, Kamal Al-Sharabi, and Saif Al-Awaji, in addition to SAM’s coordinator, Judge Muadh Al-Faqih.
This step highlights the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting private property by evacuating homes that had been unlawfully occupied by soldiers and civilians taking advantage of the owners’ displacement. It contributes to restoring rights to their rightful owners, easing community tensions, supporting stability, and strengthening trust between citizens and the relevant authorities.
