Geneva – SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties stated that the Israeli airstrikes targeting the capital Sana’a and Al-Jawf governorate on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 10, 2025, constitute a war crime and a grave violation of international humanitarian law, calling on the international community and the United Nations to take urgent action to stop these violations and hold perpetrators accountable.
The organization pointed out that the strikes resulted in the deaths of 28 civilians and injuries to 113 others in the capital Sana’a, in addition to 7 killed and 18 injured in Al-Jawf governorate, according to the Houthi-affiliated Ministry of Health, highlighting the scale of the humanitarian disaster caused by the raids.
It reported that the bombardment targeted the buildings of 26 September and Al-Yemen newspapers, along with residential houses in Al-Tahrir district, as well as a medical station that supplies fuel to the health sector on Sixty Street in Sana’a, and the Civil Status Authority building in the city of Al-Hazm in Al-Jawf governorate, in a clear assault on civilian infrastructure.
The organization considered these acts to fall within the category of serious violations of international humanitarian law and to constitute a blatant assault on the right to life and security, stressing that impunity for such crimes encourages their recurrence.
SAM emphasized the urgent need for the international community and the Security Council to act immediately to halt these attacks and ensure accountability for those responsible. It further called for the launch of an urgent and independent international investigation into all violations, and for immediate protection to be provided to civilians and civilian facilities in Yemen.
